Return to Myodontics... Home PageMyodontics lands in Japan
During 1979 a patient of Dr. Cooperman asked if he would meet with a Dr. Itoh, a Japanese dentist. upon his visit to the USA. Dr. Itoh and the patient were members of the global bonsai society and Dr. Itoh noted that the patient listed Doylestown, Pennsylvania. as her residence. Also, if she knew Dr. Cooperman. She answered yes and that he was her dentist. Dr Itoh and his dental group were disturbed over the various opinions of the foreign dental professors, French, Spanish, German, British, Italian, Americans, and others who never lectured on any preventative dentistry.
Dr. Itoh had read in the Japanese dental journals that Dr. Cooperman' s discovery was MYODONTICS and he was not aware of it's scope. Dr. Itoh came to Doylestown for a one day visit but stayed for seven weeks as a guest in Dr. Cooperman's home.
During the seven week stay... daily visits... to the office... a chance to meet the patients treated with Myodontic methods... and Dr. Itoh's acceptance to have his dentition changed to the Myodontic version of diagnosis and treatment..
Dr. Itoh returned to Japan and relayed to his dental group what Myodontics was about. In 1971 an invitation for Dr. Cooperman to lecture at the annual meeting of the Japan Dental Society was issued. The lecture led to 80 members of the society taking a course in Japan the following year.
The International Academy of Myodontics was formed with the addition of the Asain Chapter. IAM is about to publish # 21 of their tri-year dental journal "MYODONTICS" in the Japanese language. There are also two texts published in Japanese, by QUINTESSENCE, available and translated about Dr. Cooperman's dental research.
The International Academy of Myodontics has over 2000 active Myodontic dentists in Japan.
Courses are continuously given by lecturers of the Academy.
